I swear I turned my head for three seconds!

This is real life. My week last week started off as any other. We’re busy running around and playing all day long trying to adjust to Bryan’s new schedule. The kids were doing great and I was having some great success in my new workout. FINALLY starting to feel like myself again.

Thursday came along, and we had all started our day around 3AM. I was beat but I knew I had a lot of stuff to get done that day. It seems like if you let things go for one day, it all adds up to having to do ten times that the following day. We had our tax appointment on Wednesday night so I didn’t have my usual evening at home to get everything accomplished.

So I decided, okay it’s 5AM but there’s laundry that can be started. If I start it now, I can be done for the entire afternoon. I’m up, I might as well make the most of my day, right? We recently started leaving our bedroom door open. The kids like to be able to go in there and explore and it also keeps me in line with keeping it clean.

Well, we keep our bathroom door shut and it’s connected with a string to the main bedroom door so that the babes can’t lock themselves in. I’ve thought of everything right? So I head downstairs to the basement to make the, three minutes tops, switch of the laundry.

I had just hit the button to start the wash when I heard water running. A toilet had flushed. How in the world could a toilet flush? So, of course, I go RUNNING upstairs to figure out what was happening.

Heading passed the first bathroom in the hall, I see that it’s still gated off. All clear there. Getting back to the bedroom, everything is shut but the one thing (well three things) that are missing, are my lovely angelic children.

Opening the bathroom door, I see six innocent eyes staring up at me. Taking in the scene, I see that there are Q-Tips everywhere. In the toilet. All over the floor. Toilet water everywhere. It was a brand new pack of Q-Tips so in that three minutes, they sure made the most of their time.

With huge eyes, and me trying not to laugh, I start to worry about how much they actually flushed down the toilet. Getting them out of the bathroom and making sure they were clean was my first priority.

Next, I head back into the bathroom and get all of the Q-Tips cleaned up. At this point, it’s not even 5:30 in the morning. I’m still so tired and still in shock and trying not to laugh at what they just did. I mean, they deserve a medal.

Plungering the toilet and then flushing it, I realize that the toilet is flushing but it’s a little slow. Deciding my best bet would be to wait until Bryan got home, we just use the other bathroom for the day.

Bryan came home and checked the pipes downstairs. Everything looked clear so there really wasn’t anything else we could do at that point. Luckily, he was off on Friday so we could figure it out then.

Waking up, he decides to just take the toilet apart. It had stopped flushing altogether the night before. I kid you not, on top of the wax ring, sat at least 100 Q-Tips. They were all crisscrossed and making it so that the least amount of water could come through.

Anyways, when everyone tellsย you that it all seems perfect and that I have it all together, remember this story! I surely do not have it all together all the time. Sometimes, life is hearing a toilet flush and knowing that nothing good could come from that. ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy Monday everyone!! Happy Valentine’s Week! The kids had fun making their Valentines for their grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins! Wait until you see how cute they turned out! ๐Ÿ˜€
