Throwback Thursday

Being able to take my kids places that my husband and I went as kids is truly something amazing to think about. Since we both only live about ten minutes from where we both grew up (but in opposite directions) we have so many memories close by that we will get to share with our kids as they grow.

On our throwback Thursday, Bryan and I took the kids to our local county fair! I went there growing up and have a lot of fun memories from that fairground. We got to see a lot of people that we went to high school with and I got to look around and be completely content with who I am.

I can honestly say, that I caught up with a few people and knowing they are happy and in a good place made me happy. Mostly because I could say I am exactly where I am meant to be. I felt a peacefulness come over me. Some people may see people from their past and feel jealous of their lifestyle. Or see things around them even from strangers and wish they had something different.

Watching my babies look in wonder at all the people and animals and lights around them in wonder, was the highlight of my night. People who had never met the babies got to meet and see them. Bryan and I got to talk with friends and family members. We were there to watch my niece and nephews participate in local things like the pedal tractor pulls (Super adorable) and my oldest nephew shows pigs.

These are all things that my kids will get to grow up around. Knowing the community and where it came from, it makes me proud to say that my kids will know the same thing. I used to think I would move away. I used to think I would be the one to leave my hometown. When I met Bryan, I knew that at least for now, we weren’t going anywhere. I only say at least for now, because we never say never anymore in our household. I’m glad we didn’t move. I’m glad that we both moved right in the middle of where we grew up. To have family around and to be able to be so close means so much to me.

The other reason we went to the fair, obviously, was for the food. My goodness, I came home full. We have friends who own a food stand and we look forward to their food all year! Bryan has been planning his night of food at the fair for at least a week. We laugh, because we were only going for one night and he was going to fit a week of food into that one night.

Last year, the kids went to the fair but were so tiny they had no idea what was going on. This year, they got to get our of the stroller and even walk around a little bit. (It’s nice to have lots of hands on deck.) They ate fair food for the first time and I think they ate at least half of my food. I loved it. They were excited and even if they had no idea what was going on, they clapped as the kids were pulling their tractors and the people were showing their pigs.

So that was my flashback Thursday. Now were all home and hopefully going to sleep a decent amount because the babes were up from 12:30 to 4 again last night. This mama needs some sleep! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Thanks for reading! 🙂
