Mom Hack Wednesday (Week 2)

I’m so excited to share with you about our Playdough Friday! First, it was SO easy to make. Second, the kids loved it. Third? It was even easier to clean up! I think you’re really going to love this recipe as much as I did.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 2 TBSP Cream of Tartar
  • 1/3 C. Salt
  • 1 C. Water
  • 1 TBSP Vegetable Oil
  • Food Coloring

You want to start with a sauce pan. Put in your flour, cream of tartar, and salt. Mix that together and then add your water and vegetable oil. Turn your burner on to medium/low. Continue to stir until it starts to get a little thicker. From there, you’ll add your food coloring of choice.

It only took about five minutes total and you can see the texture change right before your eyes. It will fold together and gather around your spoon and then you can set it out on your wax paper.

It didn’t break apart and since it’s made out of everything from your kitchen, it’s non-toxic. It also didn’t have that weird smell that normal Playdough has. That was one things that someone had asked me already!

I didn’t have any trouble with dye transfer to anyone’s hands and I have them in zip lock baggies. I think it’s something that the kids will continue to play with and luckily, no one actually tried to eat it!

Hope everyone is having a great week so far!! Come back on Friday and read all about our next milestone! Happy Wednesday!
