Every day, I find myself wanting to know what my babies are saying to me. Now that they babble on and on to each other, I just wish I could understand them. Everyone keeps telling me that once they start talking you’ll want them to stop. But every time I see them point to something and get a look of wonder on their face as they talk, I want to hear what they think.
As we walk through the neighborhood, what is it like to see things through their eyes? Everything is so exciting and brand new. I just wish that I could have that outlook for one day as an adult. Looking at the little things around me with a new appreciation.
When they say a word, and they have no idea what it means, but I repeat it so they continue to say it with a huge smile on their face. Or when one of them says something and the other responds, do they really know what the other one is saying?
Their bond amazes me every day and I want to know more about it. I want to feel what they’re feeling when one of them makes the other laugh. When they play peek-a-boo with each other and laugh hysterically, do they really think they’re disappearing?
We took them in the big pool for the first time the other day and they were all a little unsure at first. As time went on, they realized it was just a bigger version of their kiddy pool. They would splash and water would come up and hit themselves. Then they would laugh. Then they do it again. It just makes you wonder what they are thinking about when stuff like that happens.
Or when we’re all making silly faces at them, just to get them to smile. Do they say, “Hey, let’s see how many different faces she’ll make before I give her a smile.” I swear, they know exactly what they’re doing when they hold their smile back. When they let go of that hold and they actually do smile, I could literally live off of those looks for the rest of my life.
When they’re eating and they’re normally super patient, but one of them is hungry (Brayden) and he really likes what you’re giving him, when it isn’t his turn he now sits there and laughs saying “Mine. Mine. Mine” For the last three days I’ve been living in Finding Nemo. Now that he knows he can make me laugh doing that, he does it all the time.
If you saw my Instagram story or my Twitter, you saw that Brayden has also mastered climbing onto the couch. As he turns around to look at his siblings, is he telling them how to do it too? Or is he keeping those secrets to himself?
As Brooke is walking the best out of the three right now, is she telling them to follow her, or is she happy she’s the only one that goes the farthest standing up? When they accidently let go of something and take more steps then they’re used to, what are they thinking about?
Or one of my favorites, when Bryan gets home from work, it’s like they have an intuition. They know when that time of day is coming. I don’t know if it’s in my actions. They realize I’m getting dinner ready so he must be getting home soon. They all come out into the kitchen and wait for him to walk through the door.
The little things that they do, I just wish I had one day where I knew everything they were saying to me and each other. Although, if they’re talking about me, maybe I don’t want to know what they think about their crazy mom making up sentences out of their words. Because we know that I do that all day long.
Everyone tells me when they start talking, I’ll want them to stop. Honestly, I love watching them learn new things. It makes me feel excited that they’re learning and growing into their own individual personalities. I can’t wait to see what the next year holds for us. Last year on the Fourth of July, it was our first big outing with our families.
This year, they’re so big and so much fun to take places, I can’t wait to see them interacting with our families! I hope everyone has a safe, happy, and blessed Fourth of July!
P.S. Brody is doing great for those asking! We’re just counting down the days to next Thursday! Fingers crossed that will be the end of our cast journey!!
Wait till you go to Disney for the first time! You will cry with koy watching their excitement. I live your stories. You. And your babies!!
